Researching the connection between astrology and Myers-Briggs typology

Hi everyone! The survey to test my hypothesis for pulling a person's Myers-Briggs (MBTI) type from their chart is now live.

(and no, I'm not in the least bit terrified of Saturn on the ascendant, just inside Placidus 12th, as I publish this. Slow steady - manageable - accumulation of survey responses suits me just fine. It's also the blog's first lunar return to the degree, Luna now clear of the eclipse, so there is that)

Please go here to the survey landing page, which will direct you to the survey proper. I wanted to get the instructions detailed for you in advance of the actual survey, since you'll need to complete an online MBTI test first (for consistent typing) and get a screenshot of your results, plus wrangle your birth details for the astrology side of the research. Once you have your data ready, the survey will be a few questions and an email.

While I won't go into detail on my hypothetical method, I will note that in one-on-one testing with others, I've been able to, about 75% of the time, pull a precise quadripartite type from the chart. The survey is mainly about confirmation en masse, and method refinement to ascertain the best techniques involved in assessment and to better help nail down the 25% of charts that were indeterminate.

Future plans for presenting findings are in the works, though nothing is final as of yet. A local astrological society has offered me a small block of time in January to discuss findings, so (should this go through and I have sufficient data) my plans are for this to be my first public discussion of such. Later developments to happen as they will.

In the meantime, I plan on providing periodic metrics updates as blog posts. The metrics will summarize some basic data categories to create a picture of data gaps in those surveyed. Astrological metrics will summarize frequencies of Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. MBTI metrics will summarize frequency of all 16 individual types and frequencies of each polarity (Introvert vs Extrovert, iNtuitive vs Sensor, Feeler vs Thinker, Perceiving vs Judging).

In short, I have a sneaking suspicion the initial cohort of survey respondents (primarily from the astrological community) may trend Introvert and iNtuitive. I'd love to be wrong!

In any event, I very much appreciate your help in this research! And if you can please spread the survey to types or signs who may be underrepresented, I would very much be in your debt! 🙏

  1. Katie tested her hypothesis on me and it turned out to confirm and bring to greater consciousness an early childhood patten I was exposed to as well as the results of the Myers-Briggs!
