The Septile Circular: January 2021

Happy new year. I'm in the middle of giving a rethink as to how I want to do the blog (and septiles for that matter), and that will develop gently. But while I do so, one thing does seem certain already: there's value in providing these monthly rundowns (provided I can get them out in a timely manner). For the next few months I may not go as deeply-analytical as desired while working with other moving pieces in the background, but advanced notice on the timings does seem to be a thing. So, let's get to it and get back on track.

We're very quickly headed into the second year of Septile Circulars already. It's a little bit jarring to go into 2021 after being confronted with the blockbuster year that was 2020. Last year, in addition to all the other (mundane) aspectual craziness, was the year with 4th highest count of greater-planet (Jupiter on out) septile activity since 1900 (through 2050), including a giant refractory hit with the summer's solstice solar eclipse. It was like being bombarded with a variety of cosmic rays that don't quite fit in your body, all the while playing racquetball for the last slice of chocolate cake on a plague-ridden Carnival cruise. Oh wait, that's not much of a simile, is it?

By comparison, 2021 is much more sedate, mostly a collection of the smaller-ball series of personal planet and goddess asteroid yearly aspects with a handful of notables intermixed. To lead with a brief announcement: following in the model of Lynn Koiner, I've calculated a year-ahead listing of the major septile hits and dates with significant clusters. As the listing shows, although Mars finally left Aries, we're still getting notable activity in both cardinal and fire sign seasons this year. And this has to do with the twin Big Events of 2021: the Uranus-Pluto waxing biseptile, lingering since exact hits began in 2018, and the Uranus-Neptune waxing septile, emerging for the first time this year.

Uranus-Pluto, which last perfected December 26th (in-orb since November 30th), has its final waxing biseptile of the cycle April 11th. While this single aspect is powerful in-and-of itself, it's the aspects from the quicker-moving planets to the biseptile points which coagulate into a cluster in late April (and then, the unspoken assumption in the listing: Luna will be hitting all the other planets in alignment on-top of that!). We see similar patternings with the 2 Uranus-Neptune septiles during the months of Leo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius.

Though the number of exact hits between Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are minimal this year, the aspects between these slow-movers remain within 1.5° orb for half-year-or-longer durations. You're not going to be able to really tell that the aspects are there - they're already humming away in the background like a vaguely-annoying fluorescent light. Occasionally as they perfect, you may find yourself more exhausted than usual. I say this because I contend that septiles are temporal wormholes into higher dimensions and levels of consciousness: whatever it is that is brought down to us or wherever it is we're briefly transported to during these aspects, it's of a nature more broad than is compatible with our 3D or 4D forms. It can feel like a metaphysical something is being force-fit into you, or bearing down upon you, or merely existing yet you have an ill-equipped sensory ability to comprehend it.

Without awareness of these aspects you can find yourself in a state of blind receptivity. The backdrop of these outer planet longitudinal septiles creates an atmosphere where your senses are stymied by the enormity of what they're asked to interpret, multiplied by the months of the aspect duration, further stimulated by the planetary and lunar aspects which occur. Like I says: exhausted.

So that's what we have to look forward to, this year. It beats the layered outer planet aspect and aspect patterns of 2020, though. While we saw the carnage of outer planet conjunctions and Ptolemaic aspects last year, I can't help but wonder if the massive downloads provided by the heavier 7th harmonic aspects, given time to gestate, might be the true wellspring of a new Roaring 20s creative scene that's been projected/parroted by media talking heads. (Yes, the Renaissance followed the Black Death, as did the Roaring 20s and the Spanish Flu, and it still smacks of a shade too much pre-planning even while thousands are dying daily from COVID)

As for this month? Relative blissful quiet, in more than one way. Uranus-Pluto will remain humming along in the background through the first week of May, and it's weakening for the moment. We get a handful of clusters lightly sprinkled over the month. Contacts from Sun to North Node and Juno to Neptune emerge on the 5th. The 13th kicks things higher-gear with aspects to the Uranus-Pluto biseptile (Ceres and Sun, respectively). A scattering of Venus-Eris, Mercury-Chiron, and Sun-Neptune aspects start the day early on the 17th before clearing out of the way of the Jupiter-Uranus square. Finally, a rare Jupiter-true South Node aspect while South Node is in Sagittarius ends the month on the 31st. I expect a fair amount of insight download on this last one: make room to be receptive and creative!

Even still, most of the planetary aspects are nothing to sneeze at: most of them connect a personal planet to either a lunar node or a form of planet beyond Saturn. With some astrologers considering the 7th harmonic to be of the nature of Uranus-Neptune, the planetary septiles are speaking from their sandbox, and they'll feel heavier.

Though even the tiniest lunar septiles can be felt through free-floating thought or synchronicity. By which I mean to segue: even these will be quiet at times this month. Unlike last year when we had lunar septile cascades through the Cataract Star formation (whose components of Uranus, Neptune, and now Pluto, remain), I see more gap or minimal septile days on the horizon. We get light days of 2-3 aspects total on the 4th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 18th, 19th and 20th. Meanwhile we also get a gap in planetary septiles once Mars finishes biseptiling Pluto on the 22nd. Then Luna septile-glimmers wanly in a silent sky until the Mercury-Vesta triseptile on the 27th. This period may be a time to go quiet and deep yourself: explore tinier intuitions and details with less risk of being overwhelmed. Just keep cautious around Mars square Jupiter on the 23rd and then Sun square Uranus and Neptune exactly square the true Lunar Nodes, both on the 26th. The 26th may be a bigger day of intuition and paranormal than anticipated, actually. And that should bleed into Jupiter, barely a degree away from his septile with the South Node on the 31st.

Enlightenment, spiritual work, and things coming through from the other sides are the words. Make space for yourself so you're not numb when this time comes.

* please note, I've made some upgrades to my calculations for the below Moon aspect tables. As you might note the positions for the lunar conjunctions don't always match. It's not a perfect upgrade, but I'm letting that stand for the moment. My own preference is for the increased accuracy in time for the lunar aspects. Occasionally they had been up to 4 minutes off, especially around Mercury retrogrades (when compared against the Swiss ephemeris-using Sirius software**), but with the upgrade more timings are exact with an orb of 2 minutes difference in the worst cases.

Not that you only feel the lunar aspects when they perfect: 1° orb (+/- 2 hours) works just fine. Over the last month I had two massive enough flashes of intuitions related to my astrology that I reacted: wait! What's the next-scheduled ping? Is it to Uranus? (which, btw, was still tightly-aspected to Pluto from the 26th) True to form: Moon waxing septile/triseptile Uranus, exact an hour after the time of the intuition.

**why not just use Sirius? 'Cause I wrote my program before getting the software, it's a pain to re-format, doesn't give the object positions for the 7th harmonic, and gives no flexibility in data analysis of the sort to which I've been accustomed in 17 years of working with SAS.
