The Septile Circular: March 2021

March's septile weather is one of antici...

Uranus-Pluto

After stationing direct and just as he began to separate from his square with Saturn in the last half of February, Uranus regained speed to begin tightening the distance to his final biseptile to Pluto. Now the two planets, within one-and-a-half degree orb, will fall under one degree orb by mid-March, and under half a degree orb by the start of April. These transcendental planets are the psychic rhythm section for the month ahead - as they have been since the middle of 2018.

Every planetary aspect and lunar ping to these Titans plucks the chord activated the same day as the lunar eclipse of July 27, 2018 at 4 Aquarius, on the South Node with Mars, which were 1-3° square to Uranus. I should also note that first aspect occurred two weeks after a solar eclipse which was to-the-degree opposite Pluto, reflecting that this biseptile is the "fruit" of the Uranus-Pluto square which occupied the first half of the past decade.

Later exact hits of the biseptile occurred on September 26 of 2018, June 17th and November 14th of 2019, and May 16th and December 26th of 2020. But also consider that these slow-movers' aspects could have tight orbs for a month on either side of perfection — the dates do not have to be exact for these aspects to play-out.

Septiles are of a nature of higher knowingness, of revelations, intuitions, and insights which go beyond what you could properly credit to reason or memory. When you look at Uranus and Pluto, start with their natal implications and personal meanings. Then consider how their biseptile message advances the mission of both those planets in your chart. Is Uranus individuation, surprise, technology, sexuality, rebelliousness, perhaps even astrology for you? Is Pluto power, sex, death, economics, perhaps something very deeply felt similar to a calling or a sense of fatedness? How did their themes combine in a message at the initial biseptile, advancing through each of the repeating 5 biseptiles?

We're at the tail-end of what could be called a process, although I don't like using clinical and inhuman language where humanity and especially divinity are concerned. It could be that, like the planets involved, the path defined by this aspect lies beyond our conscious reckoning or choices. Perhaps it's about emerging consciousness and the growing ability to make a choice, to take action in our lives or at least decide how we react to what we cannot control.

What does all this abstraction look like in practice, though? How can we break through the frustration of the blather of words in the few places septiles are discussed —which tend to speak either in the vaguest of generalities or nothing but formula and Rudhyar quotations— and find real substantial descriptions of experiencing septiles in the moment?

I'll give you my own example (please treat it gently, like the gift it is).

But first, let's check-in with the weather. Over to you, Chet..

Mars and Mercury and Vesta and Jupiter

As soon as Mars ingresses into Gemini on the 4th, he sets-up an intricate pattern with the other above-named planets. As if the ultra-mouthy Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius on the 4th weren't enough, they both biseptile Geminian Mars within the span of a day: yes Mars just ingressed and you're feeling the pleasant oomph of his regained dignity and yes Merc rules Gemini and no, that's not the only way they're connected. It's a recipe for channeling gods through words (and has been since Mars' ingress and will be through the 7th). Get thee to the typewriter or voice recorder! Speak worlds into being!

Also interesting: here we have a rare occurrence. Back on February 21st, just as Mercury stationed direct, Mars biseptiled the barely-moving speedster. Now, the talaria is on the other foot: by the 5th, Merc's regained his speed to tip his cap to Mars at ingress. That relief you felt at the end of retrograde? You might have felt sluggish and slow to enact your revised ideas. Here's the signal clearing you to fly forward.

A day later, Vesta enters the picture, with triseptiles to Aquarius and a biseptile to Gemini through the 7th. As if Spirit-ous Jupiter weren't enough, holy sacred flame Vesta (pace Burt Ward) grounds all this airy energy in earthy, writerly Virgo. Merc's two besties and his best lady in signs of his domicile or exaltation: what wing-footed messenger could ask for anything more? In all your world-creation, remember him and his gifts.

If you're not feeling the effects immediately, expect the Moon to finish translating the messages from all four in a tight 2.5-hour block the afternoon into evening of the 6th.

The Sun-Venus Two-Step

In addition to that wondrous Mercury-Jupiter conjunction and the Vernal Equinox, March graces us with a Venus superior conjunction in Aries on the 26th. The great pleasure inherent in the superior conjunction rests in the long duration between build-up and separation, when Sun and Venus linger close for days if not weeks. In this case, one or the other will be exalted, which might make some of that combustion more tolerable. But with that closeness, it means they'll also echo aspects throughout the month.

The Sun sets the pace starting on the 6th, in a tour of all the outer planets except Jupiter. Venus follows suit with a 4-day difference, narrowing to 2-day at her biseptile to the South Node and 1-day by the Saturn septile. The day before and day-of conjunction, the two triseptile to Vesta in Virgo then biseptile Juno in Sagittarius on the degree of December's solar eclipse. This has "sacred covenant" (on love or creative endeavors) written all over it and extends the promise of that solar eclipse.

Jupiter met with Saturn only a week after that eclipse. Mars then found the courage to set forth into new territory to ground his will, the endurance gained only strengthening him, slowly. Mercury took his time and deliberated: would it work? But what about this or that? Heck, let's throw the whole plan out and start from scratch! But at the end of this, the gods conferred — and relayed their sense of the matter to Vesta. And Vesta to Venus then Juno.

Look to where the 5° Aries Sun-Venus conjunction falls, and see if it makes any meaningful contacts or harmonious trines or sextiles for you. The septiles from that point are 10 Virgo (Vesta), 23 Sag (Juno), 14 Aquarius, 27 Taurus, 19 Cancer, and 1 Scorpio, and would suggest the conjunction has messages for any placements you have at these points.

Aspect of the Month, Lunar Cascades and Bric-a-Brac

For all the richness mentioned already, it's still not this unexpected oddity: the North Node in Gemini septiles Eris in Aries late on the 9th, though it's been within 1° orb since the end of February. When it's Caput Draconis that's the slow-mover, you pay attention. This fiery and mouthy pair make for potentially combustible messages or unusually strong inspirations coming through. If nothing else, grab a voice recorder and get your best lines of dialogue down with perfect delivery while they're with you, but I wouldn't be surprised at feelings of physically incompatible effulgence.

In March's middle decan, we find some aftermath from our above aspect of the month. Pallas runs into a biseptile to the North Node on the 13th and then septiles Eris two days later. Mercury the, follows suit (but quicker) the day after, to meet Pallas at 3° Pisces on the 18th. Probably best to get your one-liners off before they get all wet or turn into a Dali painting.

The 13th also brings a small cluster of Vesta, Chiron and Ceres as the latter pair conjoin in Aries: wartime medics and carers link to the health-minded nurses holding the fort down. A sentiment of appreciation rippling through ideaspace for those on the front lines fighting COVID, a year after lockdowns began.

Lunar cascades for the month emerge on the 3rd, 6th, 22nd-23rd, and a doozy of 8 on the 30th. The middle 2 instances also have the curiosity of occurring mostly on a Void of Course Moon.

Finally, drumbeats for the last Uranus-Pluto biseptile pick-up when Mercury septiles both on the 27th and 28th, just before conjoining Neptune.

...pation

Back to the Uranus-Pluto biseptile.

A few days following that first exact biseptile and lunar eclipse in July 2018, I —a til-then-comparative-astrological-novice who had attended regular local NCGR meetings and mainlined podcasts for a year and a half— felt a certainty such that I could have made like Johnny Carson as Carnac and written a prediction with timing on a piece of paper, sealed it in an envelope, and handed it off to a safe-keeper until such time had passed. My first-ever prediction came to pass. Novice perhaps less-so. And that eclipse, and the following solar eclipse (still while the biseptile was well in-orb), coincided with some other work and life developments weaving throughout the larger path. So I would urge consideration on the themes of 2018's summer eclipses in general when reflecting on this biseptile, as well.

By September 26th, work and life developments had hit new stages, and I had signed-up for my first astrology conference: SOTA just outside Buffalo, NY. The drive up to Buffalo, less than a month later with the biseptile well in-orb, was characterized by imagery I had only seen in dreams years prior, probably at the tail-end of the Neptune-Pluto septile*. The conference itself stirred my interest in septiles.

*in-orb from 1994 to 2018.

At the time of their third biseptile, I was 3 days away from launching this-here blog you're reading, in anticipation for my second astro-conference, GLAC in Ann Arbor, MI less than two weeks later, and two weeks after an initial invitation to speak at Member's Day for the Astrological Society of Princeton. Three weeks prior, I'd had a dramatic intuition (a feeling I would later attribute to the experience of septiles) for the name of this blog, and quickly discovered transit asteroid Kastalia partile on my Moon (part of a natal septile pattern) and transit Jupiter partile on natal Kastalia. I felt impelled to hurry and seize the moment, though I had no idea why.

By the fourth biseptile that November, I was deep in research for my presentation, with insights coming quickly for another astrological topic which fed off a tangent from the presentation's topic. At the fifth biseptile, I began doing #SeptilePings on Twitter.

Then, at the most recent biseptile this past December, I took the step of consulting on an avenue of research which will likely prove the next (big) step forward and has been the cause of a lot of rethinking in how I want to do this blog. There will likely be a pay-gate of some kind involved*. Kinda a giant leap forward from that mere novice the summer of 2018, huh?

*if only because there's way too much (publicly-vented) plagiarism afoot in the astro-community of late, and Saturn in Aquarius is all about protecting yourself behind barriers. But...stepping stones?

In addition, I was also busy with the next-level developments of the Septile Pings (still in progress), getting to explore their effects in real-time with others, and further developing that tangent topic. Up through spring of 2020, Uranus made triseptiles to my natal Uranus. To boot: Uranus squared my natal Pluto as I first taught myself to hand-calculate charts; now, my last Pluto-Pluto square fell in November 2020.

Behold how these outer planet septiles work! The onus by other astrologers on the choices made elides the initial intuitions which led to the choice to start. (and YES, my personal astrology is too darned literal at times 😜) If you like and feel comfortable doing so, please feel free to share in the comments any of your own experiences of the Uranus-Pluto biseptile and the path it's set for you.
