The Septile Circular: April 2021

April's septile weather came to play hardball. Brace yourself: expansive visions and more are forthcoming.

The month falls into two "halves", bifurcated by the blockbuster final biseptile between Uranus and Pluto late on the 11th. Both sides of the month, however, find planets in an intricate square....er, septile-dance with one another.

The First "Half"

The first decan of April glides by gently, with a handful of planetary aspects. The Sun and Venus, having toured most of the outer planets in March, two-stepping as they neared their superior conjunction, channel higher power Jupiter by the 5th and the North lunar node by the 10th. With Venus, expect spirit and insight carrying to you on the wings of doves (read: sexy gods are sexy and beautiful, you may find yourself experiencing moments or messages of unearthly love). Writing this in hindsight: her applying septile to Jupiter may have been felt less with the perfection than several hours prior, when the Moon trined Venus from Sagittarius (Jupiter inherent in the aspect and the sign). We might also see a pick-up midday on the 3rd, when the Moon makes 7th harmonic (7H) aspects to both Venus and Jupiter. With the Sun, the intuitions rise with a glowing sunny inner illumination, enhanced by spiritual Jupiter and the puissant North Node, the dragon that snakes along the Sun's path. If you find yourself in an onrush of BIG ideas, you're experiencing septiles. Take the time to plan for them, with regards to projects which need brainstorming, or you want a fruitful meditation session. These four are not to be missed: Sun and Venus move at a pace which only yields six 7H aspects to any slower object per year.

And then there is Mercury. Fully clear of retrogrades until he reaches Gemini, the speedster's moving at full power towards his superior conjunction with the Sun at the penultimate degree of Aries late on the 18th; in his path all competitors are left by the wayside. After setting a biseptile bookend with the South Node while still in Pisces, Merc ingresses into Aries on the 3rd amidst a shower of six lunar septiles in Capricorn, clearing your head and getting your ducks in a row. True to the sign, he zips through and enters Taurus on the 23rd, ending the month on a triseptile bookend to the South Node after making 7H aspects with nine other bodies, plus meeting up with Sun, Venus and Uranus.

In the first decan of April, after the Sun finishes its contact to Jupiter, Merc aligns with Saturn to point a septile-y finger of God to Vesta at 7½ degrees Virgo on the 5th and 6th; Luna accents this pattern morning into midday of the 6th while conjoining Saturn. Check where 11 Aquarius and 3 Aries fall in your chart: a quick keen mind with darting words translates the imperative to build anew with technology, teamwork and perhaps astrology; with Vesta receiving from this foundation, especially with Mercury just having crossed the Aries Point, perhaps this is a new flame being lit, to be tended with due diligence, attention to detail and an intuitive or mystic wisdom (boomerang to Pallas in Pisces).

Uranus biseptile Pluto, seventh and final

I've already gone into detail a bit on this aspect in the last month, and will link a Twitter thread with chart analysis for all 7 biseptiles as soon as it's up. But the least I could do is include the chart of this final biseptile for advanced perusal. Key degrees: Uranus at 9° Taurus and Pluto at 26° Capricorn. But note, while the aspect perfects, it drags out while Pluto slows to station retrograde.

I find it interesting that for a winding path of 7H aspects which began with the Moon 4° applying to a lunar eclipse (summer 2018) at 4° Aquarius/Leo, here the Moon is 4° applying to a New Moon. For whatever culminated with that initial eclipse season, this biseptile series has been fallout and a winding down from that high point, escorting you to a new beginning.

To boot, the willpower (Sun/lunation partile sextile Mars, both applying to Pluto) to move forward is there, with wisdom to move past hurdles and a changed environment that emerged with the pandemic (applying biseptile to Pallas, communicating from the nodal bending). Pluto (3 arc-minutes from his station on the 26th) in applying partile overcoming square to Venus, dispositor of Uranus, suggests the imperative of the transformative push may overcome entrenched stuck-in-the-mud values, and may generate new ones in the offing. Meanwhile dispositor of Pluto (who also partially disposits to Uranus), Saturn, rests at home while also being charged with a forward-moving Aquarian energy and a sextile from Mercury. His triseptile to Virgoan Vesta indicates, in the end, this is about what keeps your own flame burning pure and bright, while you experience the general renewal of Aries season.

Keep an antennae out for Ptolemaic and septile lunar aspects to Uranus and Pluto on the 9th through 13th to feel this alignment, and what it might mean for you, at its most acute.

The Second "Half"

...effectively begins with the New Moon in Aries 7 hours after the ♅-♇ perfection. This "half" doesn't really take on its character until Venus ingresses into Taurus late on the 14th, but Mercury gets started early on the 13th, playing catch-up with Venus and Sun by exchanging spiritual energy with Jupiter and the North Node. The expansive inspirations felt as Venus' fire and the Sun's light now come clear and quick with Mercury's cool reason and sword-sharp logic.

The language from on-high settles for a few days, with a Geminian lunar cascade burbling up on the 16th (hint: yes, you should buy that catamaran!). Following that, Sun and Mercury meet on the 18th while Venusian septiles affirm both sides of the Mars-Pallas biseptile from the 14th. Mercury echoes Venus' affirmations the next couple of days. Consider Mars-Pallas a subsidiary of the Uranus-Pluto biseptile: Venus integrates the value of a wise drive forward while Merc deals with the details.

Here's where things get interesting. Let's just list-out the chaos and then talk about it.

On the 20th, the Sun ingresses into Taurus, easily one of the most explosive times of the year (remember Mars' Taurus ingress from January 6th?). The 21st features a fiery lunar septile cascade in Leo to Mars, Pallas, Pluto and the 3 personal planets in Taurus and then Uranus. The 22nd through 24th finds Venus conjoining Uranus while squaring Saturn. Mercury sneaks into that picture a day or two later to conjoin Uranus on the 24th and Venus on the 25th. Both will also biseptile Pluto the 22nd-23rd, followed by Neptune on the 25th and South Node the 26th-27th.

Mars (previously Merc-ruled) moves into Cancer on the 23rd on the good septile word of Mercury, then gets in on the 7H action to Uranus and Pluto a couple days later. All the while, the Moon (now dispositing a fallen Mars) ingresses into Libra, queuing a massive 9-aspect lunar septile cascade including Mars on the 25th*. With Sun now in Taurus and Mars in Cancer, I'd say don't rule out farmers market sprees and BBQ ideas, but the lunar cascade the same day says you'll be getting recipes from the angels themselves. Hours later Luna slips into fall, herself, for a wild Mars-disposited Full Moon early on the 26th, after which the smaller players quiet down for a little bit.
*full roll call: Sun, Pallas, Pluto, Mars, Uranus, Neptune, Mercury, Venus, South Node

Throughout, Saturn's yearlong square to Uranus hums in the background, and stationing Pluto's separating biseptile lingers to that particular set of Taurus degrees while also co-ruling the Full Moon. If it were simply a matter of Ptolemaic aspects, I'd rely on the old adage: in chaos there is opportunity. It's safe to say those with placements from 5-15° Taurus or other fixed signs, or who will have Sun, Merc, Venus or Moon as profection rulers may find it a bit rocky, or at least energetic.

With Uranus of the Unexpected and Abrupt Happenings as a focal point, though, we may not be able to plan. However, Uranus in this case may be in a moment of his individuating modality as the Pluto biseptile tapers off and the individuating impulse wrestles with social Saturn. All the Taurean energy in the mix may be a good stabilizer too, keeping you grounded enough to put up with a busy week or channel it as healthily as possible in the moment. Further, the personal planet septiles are all personalizing the Uranus-Pluto biseptile in bite-sized pieces, which speaks to Uranus as individuator. You could find welcome surprises amidst all this. Mercury and Venus reaching out to the cosmic ocean of Neptune may also dampen the intensity experienced with Uranus and Pluto, with follow-up to the South Node to sweep up the detritus. Bygones be bygones as we realign with Source.

Thursday the 29th effectively ends the month on yet another bang. The 30th, by contrast, has one simple lunar biseptile to Chiron, whereas the day before features what might be the powerhouse day in a more even-handed month. Jupiter biseptiles the North Node and four hours later the Sun biseptiles Pluto, all amidst a cascade of six Sagittarian lunar septiles, with the Sun a day from perfecting conjunction to Uranus and a couple days from squaring Saturn. The septiles themselves are a step-down from the mundane aspects: larger entities are involved so you'll feel the mental static and rush from them, but they have more internalized concerns related to consciousness.

Circle the 29th on your calendar for explosive intuitive, psychic, magical overload from on-high and down deep, the better to receive what insights may come, especially if these planets or points tightly conjoin natal placements. The Titans are shifting: Olympus and Tartarus parley on the plains of Gaia, less than a month before eclipse season begins.

The eclipses will have a proper airing just as Uranus-Pluto falls out of orb, and then the 2021-2023 Uranus-Neptune septile begins coalescing in June. Pluto gave us the heavy, at times painful, path-curving work en route to our greater good. Neptune will give us a chance to dream and soar.
