The Septile Circular: June 2021

June's septile weather has elapsed, but the final full week of June came loaded with fireworks. Let's look at the larger patterns building into an intense July, including some of the more mundane events, and leave the small-ball to the Septile Pings. Let's give a quick rundown by planet first so you can assess the overall tone-flow.

The Planets

The Sun seemingly remained quiet for most of the month, but after making aspects to Jupiter and Eris in the first week, we got a powerhouse final week beginning on the 21st, with Helios throwing invisible rays to the remaining outers as their July patterns coalesced, then offering Juno a kiss on his way into the next month. It appears as though his eclipse on June 10th shorted out anything he did for a period of two weeks. To be sure: the Sun playing into the larger Uranus-Neptune septile may have made for sleepless nights and a general feeling of charged psychic energy.

Mercury stayed out of the picture for nearly the entire month: his retrograde periods have a tendency to keep him quiet while he's under the beams, except for the occasional three-peat set of hits to another planet. But, jeepers, he lit up precisely when he stationed direct on the 22nd, falling into an aspect pattern with slow-mover Eris in Aries, stationing Jupiter in Pisces, and Mars freshly into Leo. Given three of the four were moving roughly 1/20th of a degree or less around that time, including the two rulers of the exalted lunar nodes each dignified by domicile, this pattern endured for several days around the Sun's Cancer ingress through the Full Moon in Capricorn.

Venus, meanwhile, picked up everyone else's slack with 11 aspects to all the outers and asteroids. Perpetually in the mix, her early aspects to the Uranus-Neptune-South Node pattern during the second week of June bookended the month with the Sun's pass at the end. The thing to remember about septiles in general is that our physical circuits are built like 33.6k modems for the quote-unquote mundane (Ptolemaic or even 12th harmonic) aspects, but septiles act like T-1 lines. The sheer amount of data provided is more than human consciousness, trained by our physical senses, can process. It can be nerve-frying if we try to reach out for them consciously. The synchronicities which often attend septiles can be ways of encoding that data to make it more intelligible (and why they might yield greater depth upon examination). With Venus' softness and her nature to choose who and what we invite in as a matter of valuation, these aspects may have been received as moments of feeling-knowledge shaping our decisions while the more conscious mundane aspects played-out.

The lunar cascades for the month further intensified matters. The thing to remember for these is that they occur by virtue of septile aspect patterns of slower planets, points and asteroids forming in the sky. So about every 4 days we'll have a cascade recurrence (brownie points for those who understand why that duration). This past month we had heavy days on the 7th, 11th, 15th (all three had 6), 19th (8), 21st & 26th (both 7), and 30th (6).

The Patterns

Now to the actual patterns. The first, notable though more minor pattern due to its brevity, involves Jupiter, Eris, Mercury and Mars (as mentioned above with Mercury), which really pulled into view as Jupiter stationed on the solstice, coinciding with Sun-Pluto and Jupiter-Mars 7H (7th harmonic) aspects. More below with the solstice chart.

But the overarching pattern you should begin to get familiar with is the upcoming Uranus-Neptune opening septile. This came within 1.5 degrees orb starting on June 14th, same day as Saturn-square-Uranus #2. It peaks for the first of 5 exact hits on July 21st (may as well be 19th-25th). If you've been getting unexpected levels of synchronicities or intense dreams since then, this is likely why. You may have been feeling an especial peak since June 24th continuing through July 5th, for the way the outer planet (and nodes, and Chiron) 7th and 14th harmonic aspects layer during these days.

To this, we also layer-in a biseptile from South Node in Sagittarius to Neptune in Pisces which began at the start of May and has two exact hits July 2nd and 11th before dissipating. The South Node also comes within orb of a Uranus triseptile starting June 24th and perfects July 13th. I've noticed this aspect has brought up nostalgic artistic feelings, especially since Jupiter's ingress to Pisces in the middle of May. Earworms from previous iterations of eclipse cycles, revisiting of movies and other Neptunian pastimes set a backdrop for the astro-weather. But perhaps more than that, a Great aspect like this sets-up a backdrop for all other septile aspects. Paraphrasing what Dr. Hand discusses in Horoscope Symbols, harmonic syndromes, where multiple aspects of the same harmonic co-exist in a moment, don't have to involve the same planets creating an overall pattern. The mere abundance of the same frequency/harmonic is what creates a pronounced effect.

The stronger this aspect pattern has developed, the more I can't help but reflect: this is a wormhole back to The Path (your path). South Node: this is calling of the higher and spiritous of yore. Neptune and Uranus: the higher spiritual, musical, imaginal and genius (Juno) where time no longer exists. In your experiences of the greater septiles (Uranus-Pluto, Neptune-Pluto) since the early '90s, you've had ample opportunity to pick up on the themes they leak. These are unchanging. These are reflective of both planets in your natal chart plus your experience with them in aspect with Pluto. That these aspects were ever-present for nearly three decades, we might very easily take them as the cloth of the everyday — though if you recognized the jewels they've bestowed, how could they be anything but the opposite? We all have septile patterns in our charts and to our charts. Right now it feels as though reality is bending and shaping itself to remind us of our eternal natures, and it isn't purely a matter of external symbols to be read but of our emotional receptions of them as well which may be key. "Fate" and "destiny" don't begin to cover it.

The synchronicities picking up now that point to those old familiar themes? Don't take them for granted. The South Node is an on-ramp from the temporal back into the liminal, and Uranus-Neptune will hover together through spring 2023. For any type (spiritual, artistic, and beyond) this 5-peat aspect will be your last touchstone of this greater energy until the end of the 2020s when Uranus and Eris align. There will be momentary blips by comparison with smaller aspects, but if you're at all accustomed to that energetic hum in the background like fluorescent lights, those will go away.

Further, in the same way ideas precede culture precede politics, septiles precede sextiles, biseptiles precede trines, and 14H aspects (25.7°, 77.1°, 128.6°) precede uncomfortable semi-sextiles, squares and sesquiquadrates. The Uranus-Neptune sextile fades-in in 2024 and goes strong through 2028. While I've talked mainly about these aspects in terms of receptivity, is there any good reason why they can't be a two-way street? If you have clear, specific ideas of what a better world could look like, NOW is your time to reach out to the Ideasphere and plant seeds. You have your timing for manifestation.

Gather ye magickal wild moments while ye may. And if you're waiting for inspiration to strike, now's the time — give or receive, get crackin'!

But now, let's do a little bit of tracking through charts...

The Charts

7th (purple) and 14th (pink/red oppositions) harmonics

One thing I would like to do as I catch-up is to do more regular chart analysis in these circulars, with an emphasis on the lunations. If nothing else it's a good way to keep an eye out for evolving patterns. Admittedly, this particular lunation has little need of adornment. The solar eclipse with a vengeance: conjoined its dispositor, retrograde Mercury, by less than a degree, while all three conjoin Venus by antiscia. Meanwhile Vesta and Neptune oppose one another at the nodal bendings.

Ah, but here's the septile rub: the eclipse opposes Juno on the South Node, and this rare moment connects the developing patterns of Jupiter-Eris-Mercury-Mars and Uranus-Neptune-South Node-Juno via placements on opposing 7-pointed stars (indicated by the 14th harmonic aspects). 14H aspects combine the spiritual/inspirational quality of septile aspects with the adversarial or projective quality of oppositions (14 = 7x2). These aspects will show up as oppositions in the 7th harmonic chart (different than simply showing septile and semi-septile aspects in charts as done with this post — another topic for another time).

Pattern: (Jupiter-7-Eris)-14-Juno*, Jupiter-14-Venus
*for those unfamiliar with harmonic notation, that reads: Jupiter makes a 7th harmonic aspect with Eris, Juno makes 14th harmonic aspects to both, Jupiter (alone) makes a 14th harmonic aspect to Venus

It's a day of seed moments and balancing. Mercury renews his cycle with the Sun, the Moon begins anew, the septile patterns are tiny crystals in a bed of solution. Juno in oppositional-style aspects to the eclipse and to Jupiter-Eris suggests an old form of genius or commitment stands against an amplified reboot or needed shake-up on the path forward, all residing at the level of the imaginal — having the mind and spirit to do something often precedes walking the path to get it done. Zeus at his station retrograde degree is perhaps reluctant to heed Hera's calls as she has been rethinking her philosophy, but her higher message is heeded as he slows to about-face: he's traveled a long way from his last station direct point and charged forward perhaps too quickly. As he disposits Sagittarius, and is quite happy finally to be in his own domicile again, his generous nature takes over to make sure his wife is happy, even if he must endure stringent Saturn land for a handful of months more. Juno's position may mark a high-water point, a goal, for the end of serious rethink and the start of concerted grounded action. Harmonize and honor both your past and future inspirational aspirations.

I have an urge to add a little crack here: Saturn square Uranus is the big mundane aspect of the year - but that's only if you're not counting the multiyear Uranus septile Neptune. There's the faintest hint of that opening septile in this chart, coming within a degree and a half orb that day. The septiles here don't directly interact with the square though. First I see an 14H aspect pattern (remember, 14H aspects contain oppositional energy at the divine levels of septiles) reminiscent of a Thor's Hammer from Neptune-South Node to Mars, and then the links to North Node and Ceres, and then, vicariously, Uranus. Underneath the septiles, Saturn and Juno form a yod to Venus, dispositor of Uranus.

The septiles play towards the Uranus end of the square - the slightly-more liberatory end, albeit the significations-in-common between the two planets and signs can blur that. As we'll begin delving into when working with Uranus-Neptune over the next few years, this pairing (in addition to describing the essential nature of septiles themselves) speaks to ages of idealisms and the emancipation of all classes and categories of people, that they may come together in harmony, fully-recognized in the inherent worth of their humanity. So Uranus is getting idealistic supply from Neptune and the 7th and 14th harmonics: he's not rebelling for rebellion's sake. Meanwhile previously-made financial situations/obligations (possibly including alimony) from Saturn and Juno-South Node are zapping his dispositor. Dotcom and corporate workers at places like Amazon want fair treatment and pay even while their bosses turn astronaut, and the populace in general hates it (Moon, dispositor of Venus, opposite Saturn). The 14H Thor's Hammer to Mars sings of the old values and social contract become inflamed: the gods are angered. Rudhyarian third-quarter "Crisis in Consciousness" square indeed.

The Mars aspects further might hint at COVID variant spread becoming a glint in the eye of reality.

Further, I would be remiss to not point out (Chiron-7-Vesta)-14-Pluto. In a creative sense this may be an urge to remain faithful and devoted to earlier wounds for the light, inspiration and healing they may yet bestow, but the oppositional Pluto, retrograde yet ever advancing through the years, speaks of no going back to the way things were. He asks to transmute the situation: keep the wound clean, freshen the dressings, empty the ashes and keep the fire burning true even as ages pass — even if the path needs a fresh tangent line drawn to the circle. An undercurrent as we navigate the seas of the greater square.

The Sun's ingress into Cancer as both Jupiter and Mercury become stationary is a day full of highlights, yielding us also Sun-Pluto and then Mars-Jupiter triseptiles, the latter crafting the Jupiter-Eris-Mercury-Mars septile alignment better-evident at the ensuing Full Moon. Also remarkable in this snapshot is the strong 14H pattern among Pluto, Chiron, the newly-ingressed Sun in Cancer and its lunar dispositor in Scorpio, Vesta making soft intimations to the Lights and Pluto. Uranus-Neptune comes a little more into the picture, but it's not the highlight yet.

Let's look at this evanescent 14H pattern, which uses cross-7H aspects for structure. The Moon-Chiron triseptile already wanes while Sun on the cardinal point triseptile Pluto applies for half a day yet. Supporting aspects from Vesta also focus on Sun-Pluto. I don't know about you, but this carried a real charge for me, with the surfacing and coming to consciousness of Plutonic content and fine-detailed questions of personal integrity front-and-center.

With Pluto and Chiron disposited by opposing Mars and Saturn, Moon playing into those rulerships while ruling Helios which rules Mars, plus Moon opposing Uranus in Taurus while dispositor Venus opposed Pluto.....[*pause to take a breath*], and the 14H having a hard aspect quality, Father's Day in the U.S. was likely a day of emotional brutality which required a creative outlet or escape. Be it pandemic grief, complications or even the silver lining of a healing moment, it was probably heavy and required time to come down afterwards. I know I was wired enough from the events of the day to stay up all night writing and effectively channeling that energy while working through underlying feelings (septiles as T-1 lines, and all).

Fast-forward a few days and we find ourselves effectively out of eclipse season, though the New Moon solar eclipse was the seed moment for this Full Moon lunation. While Vesta is the only object to make a 7H aspect to the lunation itself (Jupiter also offering a trine-sextile), the lunation's dispositor Saturn finds itself opposed to Mars (ruled by the Sun) as the latter's rolling-septile alignment with Mercury, Eris and Jupiter finds its strongest expression.

Mars-Mercury-Eris-Jupiter: what a talkative, slow-moving, solar-defined set of planets: an acidic undercurrent informing Jupiter's earthly transmission to Sol. The Sun behaves like a sour orange full of rethought sniping and recrimination that attack the soul, with threads of Geminian and Piscean pandemic arenas. Luna and ruler Saturn, in biquintile each stand athwart and offer steady cooling to the inflamed spiritual sickness. Vesta opposing stationary Neptune and squaring slow Mercury is a well-swept cloister of cold stone radiating spiritual healing.
